One of my former students …
A wry office party celebration for a department rife with scandals, investigations and what seems like the never ending effort and need for coverups – no matter what. “Schizophrenic,” that’s how President Jennifer Raab described my department at an awards ceremony where my department chair, seen above, bottom right, received an award. ‘Tip of the iceberg, ‘I might have shouted if I had been there.
A sinister sneer for students exits at Hunter. This “student” notice is the result of a decision by the Faculty Delegate Assembly, which has an active membership of about 15 who attending its monthly meetings, and the more robust Hunter College Senate which is suppose to follow the bylaws of the City University of New York.. The faculty lounge has been cited several times for NYC health department violations.
Sandy Close, head of the now deceased San Francisco-based New America Media, which did more for Hunter’s Students of Color interested in journalism than Hunter will ever do. We were heading off to a big meeting in New Jersey for a discussion about the role of ethnic news media in that state.
