Sayanora Jennifer Raab Former Hunter College Prez. Legions on Campus Are Thanking the Gods — Part 1
Dear Hunter Faculty and Staff,
I am delighted to be writing to you today as Hunter College’s interim president. I start with a keen awareness of this important time of transition. An interim leader can take many paths. What should that path be for Hunter?
This is a time of transition, but not a time to stand still. With your help, we will continue to advance Hunter’s mission to serve our ambitious, hopeful students, the faculty whose careers as teachers, scholars, researchers, and artists are anchored to Hunter’s deep commitment to academic excellence and social mobility, and the dedicated staff who support the academic enterprise.
Nor is this a time for disruption. Hunter is an outstanding academic institution that has always been an engine for talent, scholarship, and service to New York City, and a testament to the transformative power of education within the heart of an urban landscape.
We will build on this strong foundation. Our priorities will be determined together. This time will be used to identify existing challenges and highlight areas of excellence so that we can build capacity for the future, and prepare for new leadership and long-term success.
