Celebrating 15 years? Resonates like a plot element from the Yellowjackets TV series. During Roman’s lengthly tenure as chair:
– Enrollment significantly down, course offerings significantly reduced. Campus image of department not so good.
– Significant reduction in full-time instructors and support. A sinister, committed, dumbing down of the curriculum — especially undergraduate film which was never much regarded by the honchos who run the department and a disruption of several undergraduate journalism award-winning projects. Department in a sad state of despair for years.
– Faculty lines reduced by 5 at the time of the fêtes in the above department meeting and college award ceremony.
– Desperately needed administration funds normally dispersed to Hunter departments significantly reduced for Film&Media Studies whose chair was once forced to take a leave in the wake of controversy caused by the summoning of public safety to a faculty meeting to forcibly remove a Black…
